Paralegal / Probate Administrative Assistant (Part-Time, Contract – California)

Independent Contractor (1099) Hybrid / Remote (California)

Seeking a detail-oriented paralegal or Legal Document Assistant (LDA) with experience in probate and estate administration to provide part-time support to a Personal Representative. The goal is to help navigate the administrative side of a probate process — not to act in a formal legal capacity or represent the estate as an attorney.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain probate and estate-related documents and correspondence.
  • Assist with filings, notices, and administrative forms under direction of the Personal Representative.
  • Track activities, tasks, and court-related deadlines for estate administration.
  • Organize receipts, payments, and expense logs for accounting or court reporting.
  • Coordinate communications among beneficiaries, accountants, and other professionals.
  • Maintain accurate digital records and provide general administrative support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with probate or trust administration in California.
  • Registered & bonded LDA or certified paralegal (CA) preferred.
  • Proficiency with Excel/Google Sheets for tracking and summaries.
  • Strong organization, clear communication, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Working knowledge of California probate procedures and required filings.

Engagement

  • ~5–10 hours per week to start; flexible schedule.
  • Independent contractor (1099); hybrid or remote within California.
  • Compensation: hourly or monthly retainer, commensurate with experience.
